This site is an independent comparator and adoption tracker. It is not affiliated with OpenAI, Stripe, Google, Shopify, Anthropic or Coinbase. Facts are verified against primary sources and carry a "last verified" date because the space changes quickly.

- MCP (Model Context Protocol): introduced by Anthropic on 25 November 2024; donated to the Agentic AI Foundation under the Linux Foundation on 9 December 2025. License MIT.
- ACP (Agentic Commerce Protocol): co-developed by OpenAI and Stripe, announced 29 September 2025; powers Instant Checkout in ChatGPT. License Apache 2.0. Spec versions: 2025-09-29, 2025-12-12, 2026-01-16, 2026-01-30, 2026-04-17.
- UCP (Universal Commerce Protocol): launched by Google on 11 January 2026, co-developed with Shopify, Etsy, Wayfair, Target and Walmart, endorsed by 20+ organizations; powers agentic checkout on Google AI Mode and the Gemini app. License Apache 2.0. Latest spec release v2026-04-08.
- AP2 (Agent Payments Protocol): announced by Google on 16 September 2025 with 60+ organizations; extends A2A and MCP. Open specification.
- x402: launched by Coinbase on 6 May 2025; native stablecoin payments over HTTP 402. License Apache 2.0.
- A2A (Agent2Agent): announced by Google on 9 April 2025; donated to the Linux Foundation on 23 June 2025. Agent-to-agent communication, Apache 2.0, spec v1.0.
- TAP (Trusted Agent Protocol): unveiled by Visa on 14 October 2025, with Cloudflare; merchants cryptographically verify AI agents (HTTP Message Signatures, RFC 9421).
- Mastercard Agent Pay: announced 29 April 2025; proprietary agentic payments program using Mastercard Agentic Tokens.
- MPP (Machine Payments Protocol): launched 18 March 2026 by Tempo and Stripe; open standard for programmatic agent payments over HTTP, stablecoins and fiat.
